Prayer Can Move Mountains

Diane, a young university students, was home for the summer. she had to visit some friends one evening and time passed quickly as each shared their various experiences of the past year.

She ended up staying longer than planned, and had to walk home alone. She wasn't afraid because it was a small town and she lived only a few blocks away.

As she walked along under the tall elm trees, Diane asked "GOD" to keep her safe from harm and danger.

When she reached the alley, which was a short cut to her house, she decided to take it. However, halfway down the alley she noticed a man standing at the end as though he was waiting for her.

She became uneasy and began to pray, asking God's protection. Instantly a comforting feeling of quietness and security wrapped around her, she felt as though someone was walking with her.

When she reached the end of the alley; she walked right past the man and arrived home safely. The following day, she read in the newspaper that a young girl had been raped in the same alley just twenty minutes after she had been there.

Feeling overwhelmed by this tragedy and the fact that it could been her, she began to weep. Thanking the Lord for her safety and to help this young woman, she decided to go to the police station. She felt she could recognize the  man, so she told them her story.

The police asked her if she would be willing to look at a lineup to see if she could identify him. She agreed and immediately pointed out the man she had seen in the valley the night before. When the man was told he had been identified, he immediately broke down and confessed.

The officer thanked Diane for her bravery and asked if there was anything they could do for her.

She asked if they would ask the man one question. Diane was curious as to why he had not attacked her.

When the policeman asked him, he answered, "Because she wasn't alone. She had two tall young men walking on either side of her."

All in all it is clear that the super energy which has all different names, God, is the one always helping us and and we must feel it to realize we are not alone.

Friendship=D

Mark was walking home from school one day when he noticed the boy ahead of him had tripped and dropped all of the books he was carrying, along with two sweaters, a baseball bat, a glove and a small tape recorder.

Mark knelt down and helped the boy pick up the scattered articles. Since they were going the same way, he helped to carry part of the burden. As they walked Mark discovered the boy's name was Bill, that he loved video games, baseball and history, and that he was having lots of trouble with his other subjects and that he had just broken up with his girlfriend. They arrived at Bill's home first and Mark was invited in for a coke and to watch some television. The afternoon passed pleasantly with a few laughs and some shared small talk, then Mark went home. They continued to see each other around school, had lunch together once or twice, the both graduated from junior high school. They ended up in the same high school where they had brief contacts over the years. Finally the long awaited senior year came and three weeks before graduation, Bill asked Mark if they could talk.

Bill reminded him of the day when they had first met. "Did you ever wonder why I was carrying so many things home that day?" asked Bill. "You see, I cleaned out my locker because I didn't want to leave mess for anyone else. I had stored away some of my mother's sleeping pills and I was going home to commit suicide.

But after we spent some time together talking and laughing, I realized that if I had killed myself, I would have missed that time and so many others that might follow. So you see, Mark, when you picked up those books that day, you did a lot more, YOU SAVED MY LIFE."

FRIENDS are like stones scattering around, but TRUE FRIENDS  are  like the diamonds  very hard to find.
Every little hello, every little smile, every little helping hand saves a hurting heart. There's a miracle called Friendship that dwells in the heart. You don't know how it happens or when it gets started but, you know the special lift it always brings and you realize that Friendship is God's most precious gift! Friends are very rare jewel, indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear, they share a word of praise, and they always want to open their heart to us. Show your friends how much you care...

The Fairy Who Didn't Like Her Name

We, people sometimes hate our names because of some reasons. But we should be proud of the names our parents gave us. Every name has it's own significance and uniqueness. Honestly, when I was still young I really, really don't like my name because it is hard to pronounce and spell but when I understand its origin and meaning, now I understand how beautiful my name is. I am going to share with you a story, once my grandma use to tell me. It is entitled, "The Fairy Who Didn't Like Her Name."

Hyacinth was a very unhappy little fairy. You see, she did not like her name. "All the other Spring Fairies have such pretty sounding names," she told an earthworm who had heard her crying, and popped up to see what was the matter.

"Snowdrop, crocus, tulip and daffodil are lovely names. Why does mine have to be a Hyacinth?" "I think I can see why you Spring Fairies have these names," said the earthworm. "They are all the names of beautiful spring flowers. Look."

"There's a dainty snowdrop, an elegant crocus, a proud daffodil, a beautiful tulip and ...
... a hyacinth."
"There. You see," said Hyacinth, crossly, "MY flower isn't even pretty." "I'm sure it will be lovely soon," replied the earthworm, hopefully.

Hyacinth curled up in a flower and fell fast asleep.

When she awoke, the sun was already high in the sky. A beautiful sight greeted her.

The hyancinth burst into flower. Lots of pretty, sweet smelling, pale pink blossoms on each and every stalk. The little fairy smiled and said, "I am so glad my name is Hyacinth. It really is the best spring flower.

Be the best you can be!

"Be the best you can be!" This is the phrase that help me to be confident, to be the best I can be. I joined the Regional Cluster Journalism Workshop, last July 1, 2011 and was held at San Yat Sen, Iloilo. This activity was encouraging all Ilonggo writers to join, and I am one of them. It was fun having workshop with other schools. There were workshops for every category on how to make the writing more effective and interesting. And after the workshop we were encourage to apply what we have learned. Our writings for every category are the basis for the competition. They invite three source speaker from the different parts of Panay. I spend one whole day in the workshop with my classmates. I wrote editorial and feature writing, both were in English. Before the workshop ended they declared that the awarding will be the next they at the Robinsons.

I was excited for the awarding day, but I don't expect to win because I know I didn't take it seriously. During the awarding day, many were excited to know if they were included at the list of the winners. My hypothesis was correct, my writings did not win. Frankly, I was hurt, not because I didn't get any award but because I didn't do my best, if I just take it seriously. This experience really help me learn my lesson that if you are given the chance take it seriously and do your best. But I believe this is not the time to give up and I will continue in pursuing.
